There is a Scripture in the Holy Bible that says to "pray with out ceasing" (1 Thessalonians 5: 16-18). This Scripture is basically telling Christians to pray to God and NEVER stop. Some may think to themselves: "how is this possible?" or "can people really do this?" The answer is yes!
This is very possible and is actually not as difficult to do as some may believe. The first thing that I did was think about the human mind. I'm not a Phycologist or anything, but I came to realize that humans are always thinking. We are constantly thinking throughout the day about various different things. Its something that we cannot control. I believe this serves a purpose, we are designed to constantly think and God wants to be apart of our thinking. Yes! God wants to be in your thoughts. Whether these thoughts be good or bad. We are very precious to God and He is always thinking about us so he wants us to always be thinking about Him!
Bring God into your Thinking
To include God into your thought life is very simple... just invite Him in! If and when there is something on your mind, simply talk to God about it, its that easy! Many times, we get into the habit of talking to ourselves. This happens because humans have a deep yearning to consistantly be in communication with someone. I believe that God put this desire inside of every human being, so that this "someone" we desire to talk to would be Him.
He wants his most prized possession (Humanity) to seek and search for Him. Tell God whatever is in your heart or whatever is on your mind. God knows everything about us already, so it makes perfect sense to be open and honest with Him. He loves when we pour out our hearts to Him, He loves when we seek His opinion on something, He loves when we thank Him for all that He is doing in our lives even if we can't fully understand it at the time. We trust that whatever he is planning, in the end will be a great blessing.
Waiting for God to Respond
When we talk to anybody we should not all speak at the same time. We would gain nothing if we couldn't hear what the other person was saying. When we talk to God He ALWAYS talks back! God responds in His own timing and He also responds in many different ways. The many ways God responds is a seperate topic. Please allow God time to respond back to you. There is always waiting involved with everything and waiting for a response from God is no different.
What is also important is to sit in silence before Him. Don't just ask God for things but actually take moments in your prayer life to meditate or reflect on how great God is. Think of His great power or maybe an awesome Biblical story that you have read or something good He has done in your life. Praying to God isn't just about making requests, it is also about appreciating how great He actually is.
